It was the bleak winter of 1993 and Peter Graham Donaldson was having a cold and miserable time as a television reporter in the mountains of Bosnia.

The war was raging all around him and Graham started to dream of a slightly more peaceful way of earning a living. Soon after returning to Norwich Peter Graham Wines was born and started life in a beautiful 16th century building in the cobbled streets of Elm Hill.

Founded in 1997, the company has grown rapidly to dominate the wine trade in Norfolk. It is the most significant importer in the area, regularly shipping direct from all the main wine producing countries in the world.

The company has two directors. Graham Donaldson looks after sales, and is responsible for the buying in Australia, New Zealand and Europe. Louisa Turner is in charge of operations, and supervises the buying in South Africa, Chile, and California.

Rapid growth meant the company had to move to larger, purpose-built premises just off the Norwich bypass in February 2004. The new site houses the warehouse and offices, and has plenty of parking. There is also a showroom where customers can choose their wines and seek the advice of staff with first-hand knowledge of all the estates represented by Peter Graham Wines. Many customers choose to order by telephone or email.
